WATCH: Hillary Issues Horrifying Demand to America, So Huckabee Sanders Destroys Her
Hillary Clinton has been widely criticized for her new book, What Happened. The memoir is intended to describe what led to the former Secretary of State’s surprising defeat in the 2016 election, but detractors say it reads more like a long list of blame.
According to the Washington Free Beacon, Clinton told CNN’s Anderson Cooper she believes the Electoral College should be eliminated. In response, White House Press Secretary Huckabee Sanders said Americans made the “right” decision in electing Donald Trump instead of Hillary Clinton.
As CNN reports, Clinton credits the Electoral College–the body of 538 electors whose votes ultimately select the President–with giving Donald Trump his victory. Clinton won the popular vote by a margin of nearly 3 million votes.
The failed presidential candidate was firm in her opinion that the nation’s interests would be better served without the Electoral College. “I think it needs to be eliminated. I’d like to see us move beyond it, yes.”
Huckabee Sanders gave Clinton an aggressive reply to Clinton while being interviewed on Fox News. She accused the What Happened author of making an “excuse” for her loss rather than accepting alleged deficiencies in her campaign.
“I think Hillary Clinton, this is about the 900th excuse that she’s given for why she lost, and I think this book tour has done nothing but prove to America they were right in the decision that they made in putting Donald Trump in the Oval Office and not Hillary Clinton,” Huckabee Sanders said.
The White House Press Secretary added that Clinton’s recent string of accusations indicate she would not have been a “successful President.” Huckabee Sanders asserts Clinton’s behavior drove voters to Trump.
“She has just re-identified all of the reasons that she was not going to be a good candidate and that she wasn’t going to be a successful president, and that’s why they chose Donald Trump,” Huckabee Sanders said.
For Huckabee Sanders, Trump’s victory was due to his having a strong message focused on “solving problems.” Trump touched upon tangible problems, such as joblessness in industrial America, terrorism, crime, and decreasing wages. He proposed concrete solutions, such as border security, immigration reduction, regulation cutting, and a reworking of international trade deals.
“He actually had a message. He was focused on solving problems, not placing blame, which is what most of her campaign was about,” said the Press Secretary. “He had a message, and he is certainly carrying that through as we move into the fall with a very ambitious legislative agenda.”
This is the second time Huckabee Sanders has taken aim at Hillary Clinton in regards to the latter’s latest book. As Christian News Alerts noted, she was asked about Clinton’s writing at a recent press meeting and responded:
“I think it’s sad that after Hillary Clinton ran one of the most negative campaigns in history and lost, the last chapter of her public life is going to be now defined by propping up book sales with false and reckless attacks.”
Clinton’s memoir has been met with mixed reviews. According to USA Today, Amazon has been found to be deleting one-star reviews of What Happened. Although Clinton places emphasis on the many factors that worked against her, she seemingly ignores the monumental support for her in the form of record financial backing and media support–help she continues to receive for her book sales.
